Another major goal of the Foundation is to help students achieve their college degree at the Capstone by helping fund their education through scholarships. The Crimson Heart Foundation proudly donated $25,000 to endow a scholarship in Crenshaw County, Alabama, where Mal’s hometown, Dozier, is located. The newly endowed scholarship will provide $1,000 each year to a Crenshaw County student headed to the University of Alabama. This scholarship provides a wonderful opportunity for local students to see and feel the impact of a hometown hero. The Foundation has also of contributed $5,000 to athletic scholarships at the University.

Let me tell you my story

Coach Mal Moore spent nearly 50 years of his life in service to the University of Alabama. In Crimson Heart,  Moore finally opens up and expresses his feelings on many important events that shaped both his life and the Alabama Athletic department as we know it today.  On March 30, 2013, only a few days after he retired, the University lost a coach, an athletic director, and one of the best ambassadors the school has ever known. Coach Moore gave his life to the betterment of his beloved Crimson Tide, and to the people of Alabama. Fittingly, even in death, he is still giving back in a championship manner.

Money Donated so far:  $41,500

Caring days

Caring Congregations, a faith based organization, provides services in the West Alabama area to enhance quality of life for individuals with memory disorders, their caregivers, and related populations.

In keeping with Coach Moore's wishes, all proceeds from the sales of Crimson Heart will go to support various charities and entities that were near to Mal and Charlotte's heart. The foundation has already donated $10,000 to Caring Days, an adult day care center in Tuscaloosa that helps individuals afflicted with Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia. The Foundation has also given a total of $1,500 to the West Alabama Boys and Girls Clubs, the Tide in Texas University of Alabama Scholarship Fund, and the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.
